My freshman year of high school we had two math teachers for each semester. First one was a fresh out of service marine, other was a sensitive crier fat girl who "loved children."
Can you guess which one got bullied by her own class into sobbing in the corner, worksheet ignore on the overhead projector sadly, while the whole class just goofed around?
Reminds me of high school myself, 2 different teachers, both female, one an English teacher the other a French teacher.
The English teacher was very bitchy and emotional to the point that the class itself was antagonistic back and made her cry a few times.
The French teacher, she was strict, no nonsense but fair with what she told or punished you for that it developed a mutual respect. How much of a respect, there was a day in which she was feeling ill stuck at work and couldn't do much, the class (I was a part of it) stayed quiet and did quiet study ON THEIR OWN initiative! This was teenagers around 11-13! Kids don't need feelings and emotional understanding in schools, they need a firm but fair hand that puts them in place when they overstep.
