Their steaks were/are shit. Especially at Bonanza. Ghastly thin little hunks of gristle like those we used to get in the college cafeteria back in the '70s.
Funny thing is, the last chain I ate a steak at was Outback Steakhouse, and it was a real steak.
I agree 100% with your take on IPAs and "gastropubs." Mozzarella sticks and "marinara" anyone? Bitter home-brewed ale with ridiculous flavoring agents added to cut the nastiness? Head on down to Omphalos Eatery and don't forget to wear your fedora.
I actually worked at Outback many years ago. I don't have any horror stories. Most everything was as it's presented to be. The meat and vegetables showed up fresh. About the only things that showed up prepackaged was like dry seasoning, maybe a few topping things, stuff like dairy products, etc. It's really not bad for a chain place.
Haha I have even worse than marinara sticks, I went to one of those such places for the first time in forever last weekend and we got some really bad expensive "cheese and crackers". It was pretty sad like some dried out crackers and tiny bits of some cheap exotic cheese cut up.
