Fundamentally, my point is that Japan should be spending a ton of money more on a proper military, carriers and all, because the US will not be willing to defend them from China, as China is dictating American policy. The more inflation that these governments go into, and the more money that isn't spent on defending themselves from China, the more China is able to force-project onto them.
I've said it before, at the moment, it no longer matters whether or not the American military is capable of defending it's allies; it has no intention of defending them.
Why don't you just spend 5.5 billion on your own military?
