Not in their interest? They have everything to lose, and in many cases just want revenge. Most all the Ukrainian men and women I know stayed to fight or to care for family. Most Russians I know ran because they have nothing to gain.
I think that's the thing folks don't get. Even if Russia took all of Ukraine tomorrow with zero casualties it would still be a net drag on the average Russian. Russia needs to get out in order to save Russia.
Being dead is not a net benefit. You clearly aren't familiar with the history of Russia taking over countries and what happens after. Even in recent history look at Abkhazia. Whole town's just wiped off the map.
The Ukrainians know full well what happens if they lose.
Tell that to the corpses in Georgia. The area was never developed or rebuilt or anything. It makes no sense to YOU is what you mean to say though, and that's because you don't understand the Slavic mindset is very different. It is much more emotional than westerners are used to. As an example, the guy who made the AK-47 really wanted to be a poet in life, a common goal among men. It is literally a mentality that will "cut off the nose to spite the face" and we in the west are not used to it, and fabricate logical reasons when they are in fact acting emotionally. Once you understand that, then it will begin to make sense.
The Russians have no intention of rebuilding anything, only to create more corpses and ghost towns. Again, just look at what happened in Georgia and you have your answer.
You want to believe they are in the right here and can't see the reality. The truth is most Russians have family in Ukraine and vice versa. Most Russians don't really want to kill their aunty or die trying just to go into eternal debt and be ostracized from the world.

Makes no sense. Why would Russia destroy a country that welcomed them? The only reason they're destroying you is because you're resisting.
