Tiger Woods, the 47-year-old father of a sports-playing teenage daughter, was photographed Thursday giving his playing partner Justin Thomas a tampon after Woods outdrove him in the first round of a PGA Tour event, replicating an old prank that immature school boys used to think was funny.

What women and lefties (do I repeat myself?) don’t understand is that like black people sometimes talk about, men also “code-switch,” but we do it when we switch from all-male company to mixed or female company. Most of my male friends have an unspoken standing permission to mess with me, and I with them, in exactly this sort of way. We men don’t read wider implications (muh sexism!!!!) into stuff like this, nor do we give two fucks if you insist that we do so. We are ruthless with each other, precisely because we all know we’re tough enough to handle it, we know our turn to hit back will come, and we generally do not hate each other over little goofy things like this at the end of the day. We can rant and rave at each other for hours and then all go out drinking together. It’s just how our male brains operate.
We also learn not to do this sort of thing to women, because they react in the opposite way to everything I’ve just said, and so we code-switch around them. We ALSO learn to quickly glean which ostensibly male humans are too sensitive for this stuff, and we “code-switch” to our mixed/female company ways of behaving around those “guys” the same as we do around women (and learn to avoid them whenever possible, honestly).
This is why I laugh at all the non-binary, neogender, “my pronouns are fee/fie/faeself” types, as if they are some additional gender or nongender: I find they all happen to have the personality that requires me to adopt the mixed/female company code of behavior around them, because they all seem to be hypersensitive and unable to take the sort of behavior men enact with other men. Which is, in part, why I find them so irritating, especially the ones that are (in reality if not their minds) male. You have the biology and mental makeup to be able to handle the kind of male ruthlessness the rest of us can, so why the fuck can’t you?
