So much for the idea of pandering to identity groups that hate us. It will never be enough and we don't need to be trying to out Democrat the Democrats.
What do you mean? Regardless of whether pandering to identity groups "that hate us" (Republicans, I assume) is a good idea, surely a Politico hitpiece on a neocon is no reason to do it or not do it?
I didn't bother reading the garbage, so keep in mind that I was just responding to the title. All I'm saying is that we shouldn't be imitating the Democrats' habit of treating favored identities as positive characteristics in a candidate. The GOP's unmarriageable whore problem won't get better if we nominate a woman. Its race communist problem won't improve if we nominate a pee oh see. Bathhouse Barry and Kumswala are all the proof we need that diversity candidates are bad news.

Absolutely. But that goes without saying.

"Bathhouse Barry" definitely was good for the Democrats - he got them two terms in the White House. Like him or not, he was a very talented politician, and if the Republicans had someone similar, they should definitely nominate him. And I'm not even talking race here.
