The guy's answer was clearly "If you lurk a little longer you'll learn what it means". He's not making any point. Your first comment implied that you didn't know what someone meant, not that you were being a sarcastic douchebag.
No amount of lurking is going to fix an issue where someone else either misspelled a word, or is using words they don't know the meaning of. That's not a "me" problem.
