At a guess, 'Frequency Illusion' because people are actually paying attention to this sort of thing for once.
What is Frequency Illusion?
Essentially once you learn of something, say train derailments, you start noticing it a lot even though the actual number of events might not have changed.

Certainly could be. I know it was also what was behind the whole "Someone is burning down food factories" thing that suddenly dropped out of the news again. Because let me tell you: As someone who lives in that part of the country, it happens all the time, and is usually not a big deal. I also didnt see anyone talking about grain elevator fires, even though those are far more frequent and are more likely to be deadly (unlike the plant fires).
