I think the flaw here is in the premise. He says the optimal relationship between a man and a woman is voluntary, but it's more like semi-voluntary in the same way that the optimal relationship between a child and parent is semi-voluntary. Politically, and in terms of rational thought, women are something between children and male adults, which is why throughout history (and still today in most of the world) politics and culture has reflected that. In Iran's case it's gone too far in some ways but its optimally somewhere between Iran's total subjugation of women and the West's simpdom and delusional view that the sexes are equal. This is also why women's life satisfaction in the West has declined since the ascendancy of feminism.

My hypothesis is that (non-uggo) western girls stop maturing around puberty. That is when they realize they have inherent value and stop being subject to consequenses.
And they only start again sometime post-wall. After their ego takes too many hits to be able to contine deny reality. Or possibly after they are grandmothers and that makes them finally realize a sense of their mortality and place in the chain of ancestry.
They go through puberty and become sexually mature, but their brain isn't developed yet. At this point they're geared towards sex so that they can proceed to the next phase but, thanks to perpetual birth control, many of them remain in their undeveloped state.
After their first pregnancy they go through another "puberty" where their body and brain/hormone system changes again. They become mothers, which is not just a social term (like "father"), but a biological one. Distinct from "mother" is "spinster": a woman of a certain age who has never had kids and is, therefore, under-developed. The brain of a mother is directed towards child care, thus an increase in neuroticism as they try to both keep their kids safe and anticipate and satisfy their needs.
Only after menopause does the brain develop into an adult unencumbered by a specific biological task. This is why many old ladies are seen as "not giving a fuck"; compared to younger women, they are free for the first time in their lives.
That is, however, only if they successfully pass through the other stages. If they remain a spinster, they'll retain the needs and drives of earlier stages that they never satisfied.
This is why a man is so important to a woman. Until menopause, women are unable to navigate, or even see, the objective world as an adult would. They are instead focused on their various stages of biological development, either raising a child, conceiving a child, or being a child. The man provides the guidance and protection they need to navigate their own, personal, challenges without too much exposure to the world at large.
The coda to this is, that in the past, a young woman's older female relatives would try to help her find a good man and steer her in the right direction until she got older.
Feminism destroyed that relationship by teaching young women that their older and wiser counterparts were nothing more than mindless tools of the patriarchy, who have no wisdom to transmit.

I don't think women fully mature until menopause.

This is very poignant.
