I think there is a big disconnect between what people say they support, appreciate and want more of and what they ACTUALLY will spend money on or time to watch and the big companies can't tell that difference.
So the the Overton window has shifted more left (in the West only really) in what people claim is permissable but in reality, they like the classic traditional stuff.
