Antinatalist morons like this have been around for a long time (like the VHEMT, which has been around since 1991). However, in recent years, they indubitably seem to have increased in numbers. I've looked at all the pages on stophavingkids.org: they appear very similar to the VHEMT, but were only founded in March 2021. They combine veganism and antinatalism into what they call 'vegantinatalism'.
My prediction is that these people will continue to increase in number. These views are very easy to accept from the position of the already popular 'thin' ideologies of environmentalism and feminism. It doesn't take much to move from one or both of those to antinatalism. Another way to think of it: there are obvious environmentalist-antinatalist and feminist-antinatalist pipelines. I would go further and say that just as environmentalism and feminism are both liberal offshoots and stepping stones to liberalism's last stage, the last stage of liberal ideological development probably really is as simple as extinctionism. Human existence intrinsically violates liberal principles, and thus the 'true' liberal supports human extinction: after all, liberal principles can't be violated without humans around to violate them.
This conclusion indeed seems to me the reason they have reached looking at the website's list of reasons to be an antinatalist. Practically all of them connect quite easily to liberal, feminist and environmentalist ideologies and their conceptual elements. This list is really quite laughable: for instance, humans do not give consent to being born, humans harm the environment, humans might harm or be harmed by others. That humans might one day be sexually assaulted, enslaved or jailed are among their reasons, but by this reasoning, one could literally add everything unpleasant that might happen to a person to this list. Basically, we should just not exist to avoid all unconsensual and/or unpleasant things, harms, unfreedom and so forth. Elsewhere, they call themselves 'love-based'. Most of their writings are replete with other Left-wing buzzwords: 'hate', 'discrimination' and so forth, though like the VHEMT they claim to be apolitical: a social movement that seeks to alter individual human behaviours rather than governmental policy.
I’ve always found antinatalists hilarious. I would assume most to all of them are atheists/nihilists that believe there is no meaning to life, that we exist and then die and our consciousness blinks out forever. If that’s the case then who gives a fuck if people have kids? If every life is equally worthless then it doesn’t matter if the planet explodes tomorrow.
And again if life is so painful and meaningless then why don’t they just kill themselves? (Aside from the obvious fact that they’re all lazy faggots) Most of the ones I’ve talked to say that they live in order to spread the message of antinatalism and keep people from reproducing. When I ask why they don’t spread the message to Africa and Asia they usually change the subject.
And If out brief existence is the only possible time to experience the universe then isn’t robbing it from potentially billions of people much worse?
