Is he the one who made a comment about immigrants not wearing something commemorating veterans? I started watching NHL in 18 precisely to avoid this type of woke nonsense
Yes, he talked about new Canadians (no mention of skin color) who said they come here & love our milk & honey the least "you people" (ZOMG GASP HE SAID THAT) can do is wear a poppy. He didn't say you should be fined a million dollars for not doing it, or any actual punishment whatsoever, just that you should. And wearing a poppy doesn't go against any religious beliefs I'm aware of.
He is. The NHL has adopted wokeness slower than other leagues (you can't really have BLM kneelers in a league with maybe three black players and ten black fans), but they're in the process of falling just as surely as every other institution in the West.
At least other leagues theoretically can claim to benefit from blamarkinting, black people will never watch a sport that doesn't change the rules to benefit them. There's maybe 10 black players that have ever gotten a second contract and most of them are halfbreeds
Yes he was sacked for that a few years ago. I always thought he was a bit of an annoying character myself, but he said what he wanted and was fairly based. I think he refused to apologize for his comments too.

Yea I remember when the controversy started I was thinking that was a pretty benign statement
Lol, the very idea of gratitude from the new canadians especially towards us old stock is the most offensive thing these people can imagine.
That might cut into the time they spend apologizing for building a country that these people want to immigrate too.

Sadly I’ve seen that. If a black person wants to try hockey then fine but there is nothing wrong with a majority white sport.
