Not sure if I’ll get the game eventually but one thing I’ll never understand is if you are a man who believes he is a woman or vice versa why not just play as the sex you believe you are? Granted it was idiotic from the start to listen to a tiny fraction of the population and give them this much influence.

It’s important to steel-man your opponents’ arguments. In this case, the tranny argument would be something like this:
“My struggle against societal norms is integral to my identity as a transgender person, so any media that claims to represent me must also depict my struggle. Using in-universe magic or technology to “solve” the oppression of transgender persons is actually an act of erasure. Prescribing a quick fix for transgenderism is essentially an invalidation of my identity; my struggles are a daily reality that should not be downplayed or ignored for the petty sake of world-building.”
You defeat this argument by pointing out that their “struggles” are not special, that everyone collides with and navigates societal norms, and that the solutions they’ve adopted are maladaptive, dysgenic, and dangerous. Fiction that depicts solutions to real world problems is not uncommon, and transgenderism should not be exempt from this. Finally, coherence and internal logic are critical to storytelling and should not be sacrificed on the altar of your personal issues.
Take a look at this article. There are deaf people to whom their identity as a deaf person is so important, they won't take the option to hear if offered. If given the option of having a body of the opposite sex, but no longer being "trans", I don't think many would take the option.
Amen! Now go give this speech to UC Berkeley.
