Despite how many nerd sites I block, it seems for every one I block 10 more pop up. I guess this is what I get for looking at a lot of nerd sites and gaming sites before they were sold to/taken over by twitter activists.
I was sent a predictable article and you could've played a drinking game with all the buzzwords or phrases it had (my tolerance is not what it used to be so I would have to take a sip of Coors or Miller Lite). Which do you find the most annoying or most stupid out of the following:
The hand wringing about women entering male spaces in the hobby and droning on about the "toxicity"? Granted I just see that as men or women who aren't real fans of something getting pushback from people who actually care.
or
The complaining (usually from fake geek girl who jumped on the trend but could be a guy) who talk about the "harassment received" by creepy nerds asking her deep lore questions. Aka a guy asked her what comic books she likes or what games she plays because she was wearing a certain t-shirt.
The second one could just be autism-level social blindness. People start conversations by talking about overlapping areas of interest. You don't think people really care about the weather, do you? Of course not, but as long as the other guy doesn't start ranting about chemtrails or climate change it's a reliable place to start.
1 Concern Trolling or 2 Attention Whoring.
1 is more dangerous, 2 irritates the living shit out of me more.
What I find more annoying are topic-starters that lack a topic in the topic title.
But that's just me.
I couldn’t think of something short that conveys what I wanted. Sorry about that.
Very true. They both need to be destroyed but when the sequels came out I got so sick of hearing about these poor new fans who need a safe space from toxic Star Wars fans. Forgive for not believing they actually liked Star Wars
