On the other, EVERY president since Elizabeth at least has wanted a trip to the Palace and the biggest amount of tourists to Royal related places before the Chinese is the Americans.
I have a feeling that it's one of those things that focus groups in America say will play well but turns out most Americans are either the opposite or isn't anything they consider.
The royals are just celebrities to Americans. We follow them in whatever way the media portrays them. If the media show William and Kate Harry as the responsible and beloved stewards of the family, and Harry and Meghan as weirdos on the outside, then that's how Americans will see them.
So like you say it doesn't play at all to most of us but if influencers collectively started pushing for Megan then there's plenty of Americans ignorant enough to eat up that narrative.
