My ex-wife was Canadian. She had a sister with two young daughters who kept getting really sick. Not normal colds or flus, but fevers that were close to killing them, and coughs and such that would take weeks to go away. Just to get them into see a general practitioner (not even to see a specialist) took at least 6 months (sometimes longer). The Canadian "ER" wait times are also ridiculous (hours just to be seen). My ex-wife moved to the States to live with me, and talked about her sister's problems like it was normal. I attempted to explain how not-normal it was. This was around 2010. It's getting worse.
Not too long ago I tried to see a doctor in Canada and I was informed I needed to call the same day I wanted to visit and see if I could get in that same day, they weren't taking walk-ins or scheduled appointments, only a lottery system for same-day bookings. I called like 20+ times the next day and never got through to the line until literally 2 hours after they opened. Of course, they were fully booked for the day so I'd have to call again the next day. That's how bad it is.
