This is the fallout of forcing children to "clean their plate"; more and more people growing up without any kind of internal trigger for fullness. Between that and the current Standard American Diet, it's no wonder why the collective waistline of the West is bursting at the buttons.
Eh, I don't think it's wrong to tell children to clean their plate. It only ever gets a problem when you have no idea how full the plate should actually be in the first place and when you let the kids consume snacks and soda all the time.
I mean, most adults have no idea how full their plate should be. Serving sizes in restaurants don't help either.
