“We have always refused service to anyone for making our staff uncomfortable or unsafe and this was the driving force behind our decision,” read an Instagram post from Metzger Bar and Butchery, a German-influenced restaurant in the Union Hill neighborhood whose kitchen is helmed by co-owner Brittanny Anderson, a veteran of TV cooking shows including “Top Chef” and “Chopped.” “Many of our staff are women and/or members of the LGBTQ+ community. All of our staff are people with rights who deserve dignity and a safe work environment. We respect our staff’s established rights as humans and strive to create a work environment where they can do their jobs with dignity, comfort and safety.”
They of course try to tie it to the Christian bakery even though they are two completely different concepts. The restaurant denied service of the same meal they would serve anyone. The Christian baker refused to make a cake specifically customized for a gay wedding and even offered for them to buy any premade cake then do their own alterations.
It annoyed me how the media rarely clarified that he wouldn’t do a specific decoration but would sell a cake to anyone. And they wonder why lgbt acceptance is dropping. I was fine with the tolerance concept but it goes both ways
Remember the lynching of Mathew Shepard? Our entire society freaked out because the victim was gay. There was even an anti-hate crime bill named after him.
Turns out he was a meth-dealing gay prostitute who had been attacked by another meth-dealing gay prostitute, with whom Shepard had previously had sex. But no one in the press or government cared about any of these details. No, they smeared an entire community as homophobic bigots when the truth was Shepard was a meth head hooker who died at the hands of another meth head hooker.
I didn’t learn the truth about that until around 5 years ago. I remember when it happened and it certainly caused the pushing of lgbt content in entertainment.

The number of people who don’t understand this difference is depressing.
