I kind of agree but I think you got it backwards man. Some guys still wear it as a badge of identity but incel is nothing but an insult meant to disparage these men as weirdo others, not part of healthy society. Then we can conveniently blame them for various problems in the world like misogyny, school shootings, and Trump. They're almost always loser White males as well. Not really but that's a useful connotation.
Even where it's used as self-identity, it's more like self-pity and a form of commiseration where guys get together to complain about women. They don't wear it with Pride in public and demand special treatment like a stunning and brave lesbian latinx transgender woman. Incels are only treated with scorn and shame. Calling someone incel is like "VIIIRGIINNN!" on steroids.
Maybe free online porn has taken the gumption out of these whiners, weakening their urge to pursue women..
That is certainly part of it. At the same time the few "winners" who stay in the game benefited from the oversexualization of society feeding into female hypergamy, making it even more difficult for the "whiners". The rich get richer. I don't think prostitution helps because it's illegal in most places and has a stigma attached, though perhaps less than being incel. There's a lot of people who will say if you had to hire a whore you're still an incel.
Well, this take makes me a bit more sympathetic to the "group." In fact, to call them a group is to fall victim to a stupid online abstraction, so I thank you for squaring me away on that score. I'm not surprised that the thing began as a reaction to social stigma, to online dogpiling.
