I remember reading somewhere, Reddit I think, about how a guy reacted to his gf/wife/whatever cheating on him when his partner's mother called for some reason just as things were about to kick off.
He didn't outright tell the mother what her daughter had done, he didn't shout or curse, and he didn't lie or try to gaslight the mother in any way. He simply informed her that due to actions taken by the daughter he no longer felt there was a relationship to continue with and that if nothing else he was appreciative of how the mother had treated him during the time he had been with her daughter.
He was polite, calm, and utterly devastating because the mother quickly put together what had happened and went apeshit at her daughter for ruining the relationship with a decent guy.
