Greatly reduced and we'd have more competition and less consolidation, so you wouldn't have one company big enough to treat people this way, and apparently unconcerned with profits.
I used to laugh at tin-foil hat conspiracy theorists but since ~2018 I've started to see the CIA's hands in everything, including finance and big tech.
The CIA makes more sense when you start to look at it less as a misguided ultrapatriot secret society or even a shadow government and more as a corporation. Being a part of the government lets you break rules and get away with it. Beyond that, everyone is looking for money at some point. Not many people with brains dial up misguided patriotism to 11. Maybe privateer is the right word. An org operating with government writs but engaging in economic activity -- that may not be legal when someone else does it.
Yeah it's basically a franchise at this point, with thousands of shops only loosely communicating up the chain. I'm sure there are some misguided patriots among them but lots of groups just working for profit as well. I think that was one of their goals, capture foreign interests, special interests, secret societies and make them align with US interests. Instead, US interests were bent to align with those special interests.
