I watched the original on a plane due to seemingly everyone I knew raving about what an amazing movie it was. It wasn't, it was competent at best, a by the numbers movie that followed the same exact superhero origin story we've been seeing for decades (with a much less interesting character) while throwing out some "colonizer" rhetoric. I didn't even know there was a sequel but can only imagine how bad it must be.

Black Panther was extremely basic
Especially since the lead actor died before the sequel could be filmed.
