She's been in power a month and managed to tank the pound and destroy investor confidence. The Tories are also polling double digits behind Labour and she is the single most unpopular PM since polling began. On top of that, She's had a revolving door of a cabinet with more ministerial firings and resignations in a month than most administrations have in a year.
So she's hated by the financial institutions, and also by the public and by her own party.
She proposed a budget with some extremely modest tax cuts and the usual subjects including goldman sachs and the IMF freaked out and pulled a run on the pound. Wouldn't be surprised if soros was involved again too.
It was a warning to anything worldwide even with a modicum of conservative or libertarian fiscal policy.
Liz wasn't great (and neither was boris) but the trashing of the budget was suss af.
Yes the campaign against her is definitely a globalist hack job, but it doesn't change the fact that she's completely incompetent.
That budget also included caps on energy bills, because everyone knows the best way to fight inflation is price controls.
The selection process for the Tory leader is as follows: The Parliamentary party, which is to say the MPs, whittle down all of the potential candidates until there are only 2 left, and then put those 2 to the party membership for a vote.
This time, the MPs eliminated all of the based candidates and gave their members a choice between Truss and Rishi Sunak. They did that probably hoping that Sunak would win. It's a measure of how out-of-touch Westminster is that the Tory membership would rather have this useless cunt over him.
The backdrop to all of this is that the Tory membership are much more conservative and populist than their leadership, and they're furious over the way the Parliamentary party knifed Boris. Sunak's fingerprints feature most prominently on that murder weapon, and he's not even English, so he was never going to be PM.
Marginally less shit than Truss, but if it's a choice between him and Labour. . . .
tl;dr is: Shitstorm on the horizon, Various MPs put name forward, Votes happen to pick winrar, grenade wins
Ironically the voting happens in ways the Tories never want to implement, where the lowest result gets eliminated each round. End 2 then get put forward to the paying members of the Conservative Party who pick who gets it, this number essentially means an Oligarchy. UK doesn't vote for PMs the way the US votes for Presidents. US might vote AGAINST/FOR Clinton/Trump for example however the UK votes along party lines with the leader of a party most often being the PM if that party wins a majority or can arrange some deal like happened with the ConDem coalition that resulted in the LibDems killing any and all future attempts of eligibility for the next few decades.
This time the final round was between Truss and Sunak however Truss is called "the human hand grenade" and Sunak was the chancellor during Lockdowns which included such massive fuck ups as "Eat out to help out" that inevitably caused even more spreading cases. He is quite literally the richest MP in government right now being a multi-millionaire himself and having married into a multi-billionaire family and is so detached from common reality he's had such spectacular PR failures that include:
Failing to put petrol in a car, a car later revealed to not be his
Failing to use a contactless debit/credit card reader
Both of which are daily activities for the general population meaning he's never going to be seen as someone who represents anything "the common man" might do. Unfortunately the other option was Truss...
