There are supposed to be some kind of provable damages. Like their reputation was hurt, family torn apart, they can't find work, they've been "cancelled", etc. And I don't know where that ridiculous dollar amount comes from either. The families seem to be doing fine and have the support of the world. Ironically people who actually lose their livelihoods because of slander and manage to win in court rarely get enough compensation to ever make up for it. Lawyers are expensive.
And I don't know where that ridiculous dollar amount comes from either.
It comes from a judge who was zealously advocating against the defendant in every which way short of forcing him to hold a sign up that said "guilty." It comes from kneecapping the defense at every opportunity and disallowing any defensive argument at all. It comes from a hand selected bank of jurors who have already been programmed to think Alex Jones is the literal devil.

This case should have been thrown out on day one.
