Why the fuck is Lula a thing still? Wasn't he in jail or something?
He was convicted, appealed, his conviction was confirmed and he was jailed.
But then came the supreme court and said "nope!". They annulled his conviction because reasons.
Actually, the justice who yeeted his conviction was named by Lula's successor (and puppet) Dilma. After a life long devotion to leftist causes and the Labour Party, he finally got named, but he was a Uber SJW long before that, he just has crazy power now. His name is Edson Fachin BTW.
I just wish Bolsonaro had name some equally zealous right wing activists to the supreme court, instead of the two ineffectual sleazeballs he named (who will betray him in the first chance they get).
The Brazilian supreme court is full of corrupt far-left extremists. They constantly let left-wing criminal politicians go and persecute right-wing politicians under made-up pretenses.
It's so bad that the fucking New York Times is having second thoughts: https://archive.ph/sqIv3
So basically America in 10 years, and only because they haven't percolated to the SCOTUS yet.
Yeah, I was really surprised when the NYT ran that piece. Never thought they'd point a finger to the Brazilian supreme court, since they're doing WEF's bidding.
Most of the supreme court has been named by hard line leftists (Lula and Dilma), but funny enough the one guy that's giving Bolsonaro the most trouble isn't really a SJW (Alexandre de Moraes). He's just a power hungry individual with no moral limitations (most likely a psychopath or some shit like that).
In Brazil, power belongs to those who wield it. And Alexandre is the one holding the reins now.
Since Dilma (who was eventually impeached by Congress and Senate), the executive branch has gradually lost power.
At first, the legislative branch filled most of that gap, with leaders of Congress holding considerable power. Presidents now had to toe the line or else.
And then, when Bolsonaro was elected, he played hard with everyone at first. Trying to throw his weight around and show who's the boss.
The estabilishment felt threatened and pushed back. There were investigations on his sons (all shitty politicians, somewhat akin to weak republicans in the US) and there was talk of impeachment.
Bolsonaro folded and tried to appease all sides, but was mostly rebuked, except by the Congress which he was able to buy. They went into a feeding frenzy and he bled even more power very quickly, which now went chiefly to the supreme court, and also to the leader of the Senate.
And that's how Brazil came to be ruled by appointed justices and not by elected officials.
This got a lot longer than I expected. TL/DR: Brazil is presently ruled by judges. Even if Bolsonaro is reelected Brazil will still be ruled by judges.
Bolsonaro should seriously conduct a self coup the second he gets re-elected as a final solution to this corruption.
