And in the meantime while you are making these theoretical moves, laws are being passed and massive changes are being put into motion. Things that take considerable more force to get rid of compared to being put in. Even more so, it sets precedent and foundation for far worse things to be passed without any chance of interference.
A fleet of moderate Dems is still going to help the extreme Dems pass basic Dem bills.
the goal of politics is to get your own policies passed and deny those of the Left.
replacing solid left wingers with moderate Ds assists this goal.
replacing moderate Ds with moderate Rs assists this goal.
replacing moderate Rs with solid right wingers assists this goal.
I don't know why this is so difficult for the people in this sub to understand or accept. I know you all want to just magically end up with a supermajority that reflects your precise policy preferences, but that's not how politics works in a democracy.
Its the same magic where these "moderates" appear and don't end up completely compromised by their time in politics and don't end up doing irreparable damage while you wait for that "replacement" to kick in. A single gun control law passing that most "sensible and moderate" Dems approve of would still set us back possibly indefinitely, same with plenty of other non-extremist only positions of the Left.
Your point isn't hard to understand. Its just based on a lot of hopes and dreams of the best possible outcomes to function.
