They gotta run outta gas eventually. No one wants this, no one watches it, it doesn't make money.

Remind me - you're black, right? And you don't even want this garbage. I bet it feels awful knowing that media producers have so little confidence in the success of black or female characters that they have to race or genderswap already existing and popular ones instead of creating something new.

Yea I’m black, and honestly so tired of this. On top of that so many shows with blacks now will push one of the usual fake race narratives and critics overhype anything with a black person despite how bad it is. This is why I feel bad for a black or female writer who just wants to tell a good story. So many have been turned off. And a white make trying to get into the business now will have to bend the knee or go indie.

My parents always roll their eyes and turn alway from the shows that peddle the racism is everywhere message. So weird because I grew up in 80s and 90s and a lot of my white friends loved shows like Family Matters, Fresh Prince, or Martin and I remember as a kid Eddie Murphy was a huge star. Plus I enjoyed and still enjoy plenty of mostly or all white shows. Today Leave it to Beaver has become one of my favorite shows now because it’s so nice seeing a traditional nuclear family. I watched reruns as a kid with older relatives but I really appreciate it a lot more now

It's weird watching movies and shows from the 60s and 70s that acknowledge racism and just brush it off like it's just one of those things we have to deal with, rather than OMG HE'S A RACIST YOU GOTTA DO BETTER WHITE MAN

We've regressed.

Add to that the refusal to acknowledge a lot of progress was made.

I grew up watching Will Smith, Chris Rock, Eddie Murphy, Chris Tucker, Bill Cosby, Keenan and Kel, the list goes on. Never thought anything of it. At the risk of sounding like a boomer, I really didn't notice their race. When I watched Rush Hour I wasn't focusing on the fact that neither protagonist was white, because I didn't care, because it was a good movie that utilized their differences well.

But be honest. If a movie with an Asian/black duo came out today, what would your first thought be? If you said "I bet this is going to be woke race-baiting trash", you're far from alone. Which is a real shame. Rush Hour is one of my favorite movies, but today I'd never even give it a chance, and for good reason. Fool me once, and all that.

Same. I have a general rule not to watch anything made after 2014 with a few exceptions like Yellowstone. But yea if I see a black les show my first thought is that it will be a race thing. Denzel Washington is an exception since he is one of my favorites but for me to watch a show like that I’d have to get a recommendation from someone I trust.

Rush Hour was hilarious
