It isn't that impressive. That is something you can do with simple operant conditioning. Probably much easier when you know what you're doing rather than trying to 'teach math' to a freaking horse.
Operant conditioning isn't magic. You can't just make any creature do anything because you "conditioned" it. Certain levels of intellect are needed for certain levels of results to be found.
Guy spent years teaching his horse math. And the horse answered correctly. It was a miracle.
Then some other guy came and discovered that the horse was actually picking up cues from bystanders on what to do.
