I guess my yard sale hunting for older media will continue if they keep this ever advancing march of today-ism to sanitize everything they find.
It didn't make me want to smoke then, and it doesn't now.
It's weird, the same people that want to remove cigs from movies also want to inject race swaps and child porn.
Then it becomes not so weird when you remember it's about destroying culture, not about "discouraging smoking."
They know they're doing it, and they don't care.
Those that are just following along know they're doing it, and they don't care either.
Smoking, in this context, represents sort of “old school macho values”. That, I suspect, is why they want it gone. Not because they actively care about preventing smoking…
But it also represents “freedom”, and we know how much they hate that, lol…
FYI, guys, in India this was the norm, with all movie scenes containing smoking (but in an even more clunky way. It particularly made Titanic utterly unwatchable. I remember that much) literally a decade ago. And it made zero difference to smoking rates.
It’s just that the West has… Finally caught up to India, in oppressive, sad bullshit like that…
