Scumbag liars. I've spent time on Martha's Vineyard as a remote branch of my family has lived there for 100+ years (meaning before it became a playground for rich people). They call all the newcomers "washashores."
First of all, there are tons of legal and illegal Brazilians and Portugeuse. Gotta have a work force to keep your houses clean, your restaurants staffed, and the grocery stores full. No one wants to pay for actual longtime residents to do that work when you can pay a dirt poor immigrant.
So yeah, poor people and specifically poor non-English immigrants have been and ARE a thing.
Dukes county is one of the poorest counties in Massachusetts. The rich part-time residents can easily afford living on the vineyard, the rest of the people? Not so much.
"Martha's Vineyard has no existing services" ... fuck you, and why is that? Despite the fact that there is a high poverty rate among the locals?
Brilliant move by DeSantis. In one stroke of the pen and two planefuls, he's clearly shown the corruption and hypocrisy at the core of the liberal elite.
Like some kind of person whose back is... wet?
Every place full of rich liberals has an acute housing crisis. They will whine about it to your face and then further restrict development on behalf of the environment.
*I guess every place has a housing crisis now, but it's worse in rich-liberal places.
Exactly, when will people on our side learn that the left doesn’t give a fuck about hypocrisy? They forget about it and excuse it as easily as the tide changes.
There are more than two sides.
"Keep fighting the two sides! Yes, you hate each-other! Fight!" -The third side.
Just Us, Them, and the Useful Idiots.
Maybe one of the Mr. Moneybags won't be quite so ready to write big checks to fund the campaigns of the people refusing to stem the tide next election cycle. This isn't just about optics, it's about making political decisions real to people who've literally never felt that before.
Maybe, but I doubt it. I think they’ll take whatever steps necessary to get these immigrants off of their lawn and then they’ll forget and go right back to supporting every blue initiative they can to make sure that we still get illegals but they only go to the right neighborhoods.
