Why even put hobbits in a story about the second age? So fucking stupid.
I'm sure their thought process didn't go beyond: "The Lord of the Rings has Hobbits, so we need to have Hobbits".
I believe it.
Studios think that audiences are idiots who need to be constantly reminded that derivative works are a part of the same universe that spawned them (Looking at you Rogue One, with your continuous shout-outs to the original Star Wars).
I guess they are technically not hobbits? [but yeah they are basically 100% hobbits :P]
They technically are hobbits but for some reason Amazon says otherwise.
I think it's because they own the rights to the term "Hobbit". They only purchased the appendices of the Silmarillion (I believe) which didn't have Hobbits in them because they didn't exist during that age yet.
Oh I thought they were supposed to be some evolutionary predecessor to the hobbits..... which are basically exactly the same as hobbits? I dunno whichever :P I could be wrong just what I heard lol.
I heard amazon like didn't have the right to use the term hobbit or is that not true?
In the legendarium the harfoots, stoors and fallohides are distinct groups of hobbits that mixed during the early-mid third age but they were all hobbits already. And late third age hobbits are mostly harfoot anyway.
