They should treat every day of shutdown as a success, and every social media should have a running counter of "the shutdown has saved you the tax payers this amount of dollars ao far"
Sadly, they mostly get backpay. Shutdowns don't save money...but at least the politicians aren't actively fucking us during the downtime, so it's still a win. But it really needs to be changed so a shutdown actually means a shutdown, and these fuckers don't get paid.
Can't keep the government running? Firstly, good. Secondly, then you shouldn't get paid. If I'm an owner/manager/employee at a store, and I can't keep that store open, I don't get to decide to pay myself with other people's money after the fact.
Here are a few of the things I would stop using the power of the purse...
Militarizing three letter agencies
Can we just cut to the chase here?
Also, I wish Massie had more charisma. He's got some great ideas, and I like him on a ton of things, but he's one of those politicians with negative charisma, often. He's great on ideas, but he's not a leader, and no one else really seems to want to step up and run with him. Hopefully that changes. I'd say the Republican party is moving in a positive direction - at least parts of it are - so here's hoping some of the new people get their act together and go wild.
He seems like a good guy but you're right. He needs to be the ideas/policy guy who works behind the scenes, while the charismatic people get all the attention required to actually put his ideas into practice.
Which is nice, until enough rinos are bribed or the dems do their government shutdown schtick and have the media blame republicans.

You ever notice how there's no "grassroots" BLM, climate change, or feminist protest during a government shutdown?
Smart Republicans is a pipe dream, sadly.

If Kevin McCarthy and his merry band of Pelosi Republicans are in charge it's going to be more full speed ahead with the DNC agenda.
We need a real opposition party.
