Yeah I remember even Nerdrotic was promoting them at one point a while back, then at some point they decided to attack him and other fans for some perceived slight or microaggression. That was during some previous controversy I don't recall, before Rings.
Same thing with the Tolkien Society. They went way off the rails. I remember not too long ago they had this meeting where they discussed lgbt representation in Tolkien. I know I've said it over and over and I sound like a broken record, but Amazon has the money to hire some writers and make a fantasy epic with all the "representation" they want. Nobody would've complained since it would be original. Granted, I wouldn't have watched because I don't trust modern day western entertainment but that is another issue.
