You’re looking at it the wrong way, to me gatekeeping is a weak man’s solution to a complex problem. If we start on the basis there is an objective universal truth, then rational thought should always be able to reach that truth. This is also part of the religious perspective as we are inherently flawed creatures, so only through constant strife and perseverance can we continue to reach towards objective truth. This can be seen as the opposite of a purity spiral, you take in everything and constantly rationalize your perspective against the information we can perceive. This creates a better defined argument and a stronger resolve over time, which can easily be seen in Christian intellectuals. When you gatekeep, you limit yourself to only the knowledge you find acceptable, this does not provide objective truth, but subjective truth, and is no different than a feminist screaming “my truth” as that is her religion. I believe this universe was created and therefore has an objective truth, as such it is our duty to verify and present that truth to others.
That’s not gatekeeping as you are allowing the argument to be made. Complete abdication of the thought is gatekeeping as you are not allowing the idea to be had.
