I don't think he said 'paid', but it's not exactly unreasonable either - except to free market fundamentalists.
It was not exactly coherent, but from what I gather, it's that they did not give him time off to get the vaccine. You know, those 'sick days' you always brag about, when we have an unlimited number of 'sick days'.
In the US we have freedom. The government does not micromanage and dictate what employee benefits must be. So when you look for a job, you can choose to have less benefits in exchange for something else like higher pay or a more desirable job. Netflix, for example, gives new hires extremely high pay with no benefits and no job security, and the ambitious young talent Netflix wanted to higher PREFERRED that style.
This dude is an incoherent drama queen and a far left liberal activist in "games journalism". Kuchera was one of the loudest Gamergate libtards.
Yes, it is unreasonable to make up some obviously-fake bullshit like "my daughter is being molested so I can't work". That makes no logical sense. Even if it was true that his daughter got molested, it's not like he had to be there watching her 24/7 to prevent it. That's not how that works.
Instead, what really happened, is the drama queen burned out on his job and stopped wanting to show up to work, then when his employer told him to do the fucking job they were paying him for, he made up some bullshit about child molestation to try to immunize himself from being fired for not doing his job. It's incoherent and he is clearly lying.
Also since the vast majority of people in his line of work, work remotely, the real issue is that he was not actually producing any work product. He wasn't making his deadlines or doing his job. Vox was just paying him for nothing. So they fired him. They probably dragged their feet and took a long time to finally drop the hammer, too.
If you're on salary, not hourly, all time off is "paid". He must be on salary or Vox would not have cared at all. If he was only a contractor, Vox wouldn't give a shit about him and would have never had to "fire" him.
I never got vax but my GF did and I looked up the scheduling for her. You could EASILY get vaccinated on your lunch break or before/after work. The total time required was only about 30 minutes. He doesn't need a fucking day off from work to do that shit.
Correct. The evil gubbermint does not 'micromanage' benefits by saying that... you have to actually be paid for overtime, or that your employer cannot fire you and steal the PTO that you have left.
I have nothing but contempt for the crime syndicates that you call European governments. That said, this is something I am rather happy with.
You're defending the indefensible. I've seen people have to take time off for stuff much less severe than this. Besides, you don't know his situation. That he is a libtard doesn't matter. He may well be in the right here. And even if he weren't in the right, I'd still want him to win, because he's a lesser threat than Vox Media. Always side with your weaker opponent when he is fighting against your stronger opponent.
Oh, you sweet summer child. Have you ever been a wage slave?
Not how it works. They'd have to arrange a replacement for his work even if his time off were unpaid.
