I'm still trying to convince my wife that we'd be better off in the country in case of emergency. She thinks strength in numbers. (like if you need your neighbor to rescue you from flooding)
Has this lady literally ever seen a zombie movie? Or a locked room/escape room/deathtrap movie? The most pertinent verisimilitude you get out of these things is the enduring truth that it's not the circumstances or the environment that are most likely to get you killed, it's by far the other people.
I can't even begin to understand the mindset that lives in this world, and comes to the conclusion that in case of emergency, more people equals better. Numbers just means more people in need of rescuing, more weak links, more fragile psychologies, more mouths to feed, less mobility, more competition, and more chances of being bundled with a psycho- or sociopath.
Take her to a small town (5-10k) festival. I can guarantee you she will get more friendly neighbor vibes from the neighbors who live 4 miles apart from there than you would see in any suburb. When people think rural they forget that you actually have to know and associate with your neighbors.
