PayPal's first foray into evil was in the early 2000s, when they decided they didn't want evil gun dealers to use their service. PayPal instituted a new term of service that banned such use, and instantly froze all retailer and dealer accounts . In some cases, there were five digits of funds in said accounts.
This was right at the end of, or shortly after the Federal AWB sunset, so lots of people were trying to get rifles that had all the evil features. Colt LE6920 rifles were particularly popular, at the time, as that was a straight up semi-auto clone of the newly issued M-4A1 carbine that was being used in the just getting underway Iraq and Afghanistan war/occupations.
PayPal has only gotten more loony since then, and It just floors me how many people keep wanting to use them, especially now that alternatives exist (Gab Pay). I still have a PayPal account, for selling stuff on Gunbroker, but it is not a business account. I have it tied to a secondary bank account, and I only accept friend to friend transfers with it.
The one thing the alternatives don't seem to have is penetration into international markets.
Rippa, for instance, didn't want to use paypal, and got burned using them, because he has a large contingent of international buyers.
I'd say that his case gives everyone considering using them a million+ reasons not to-- but until the parallel economy goes international, there are few alternatives.
