Funny how you seem to have it ass-backwards.
Firstly, look at the polls for the Republican Primaries. Trump is by far outpolling DeSantis, and usually outpolls all other candidates combined (i.e. over 50%). If Trump doesn't get the nomination, it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if millions of Republicans did not vote simply because the 'deep state' cheated Trump out of a win. Furthermore, Trump can just, as he has in the past, spitefully threaten to run third-party, easily preventing any Republican win.
Secondly, Biden is now polling lower than Trump has been at this stage in his Presidency, despite the mass media endlessly shielding Biden in the same way that they launched a 24/7 barrage against Trump. The idea that Biden would win an election against Trump seems totally baseless. If anything, the Democrats have got to remove Biden to clearly win in 2024. I could only picture Trump losing against someone other than Biden.
Now, I don't picture the Republicans winning in 2024 no matter what happens, and I believe that the mid-terms will be far less decisive than this 'red wave' nonsense I keep hearing about. But so long as the Democrats don't stand Biden, they'll be fine; furthermore, I don't think it is implausible that they will firmly win every Federal election from here. For example, the Republicans haven't won the popular vote since 1988. Without the Electoral College, the Democrats possibly would have won every election since 1992 (i.e. if the popular vote determined the election outcome in every election, and they received it in all of them). Republicans have no idea how unpopular they actually are.
Thirdly, DeSantis is no better than Youngkin or any of these other characters that have popped up in recent times. They played up to Trump when it suited them and distanced themselves from him when it did not. Just like that Mehmet Oz character in recent weeks. They care about CRT because it's a pet issue of America's pseudo-Right; they couldn't care less about it if it wasn't. I don't see how Trump is worse than them.
Unless it's an extraordinary election, the midterms will be a red wave. It's a mid-term and a terrible economy, so the out-of-power party will gain a massive victory.
Whether Trump wins in 2024 will depend also mostly on the economy.
