Yeah, like me and most of my close friends all met playing it and played through horrificly bad times in its life.
But now not even Wrath Classic, most of our biggest nostalgia, has even blipped the radar. Its literally just trannies and 3rd worlders gold flipping now.
I played wow classic thinking it’s be fun. Most people are older, more mature
I got kicked from a raid group because our raid leader was gay, and he “felt threatened” because he saw me discussing conservative views in an opt on current events/politics discord channel
And this was goon squad. Old something awful trolls that used to terrorize the internet
Goon Squad has been compromised for a long time. I mean, Zoe Quinn started on Something Awful, as did a lot of notorious SJWs.
I had a fine time with Classic in terms of people, but the game is "solved." There is no adventure, just minmax. You can't get the magic of it back no matter what you do and if you try you will just be looked down on for improper play.
I have friends from top guilds who were in multiple world first dungeon clears. The pro-est of the pro. The elite of the elite. Guys with unbelievable dedication to the game. Guys with mindboggling levels of knowledge of everything. Guys who can tell you which patch number <insert minute balance change here> happened.
Same. My best bro was in Vigil, as well as a bunch of other people. Same with Midwinter and a few other now forgotten but once top line guilds. Even I was in a US 20~ guild in my day.
None of them have raiding since like WoD, like me, and even those of us who casualled Legion/BFA are just utterly disinterested. Even those who TBC was their life's obsession didn't go back for TBC Classic.
Honestly, genuinely surprised Blizzard of all people hadn't done this sooner.
It might actually benefit them, as the only people willing to give them chances again are the easily baited trannies that this appeals to.
I was thinking the same thing.
There's nobody else playing their games anymore. Certainly not something as utterly ruined as the carcass that is WoW.

The problem is the community

They haven't touched WoW in almost a decade.

I think most of the mutants have moved on to FFXIV. Maybe Blizzard hopes this can win them back, but I doubt it.
