You're not missing much of anything. The whole movie felt schizoprenic, like they squashed three or four different movies together. They included cutesy exposition to explain the other three Thor movies(Why?) complete with voiceovers, and it feels like ever Thor movie they make, they constantly hammer the reset button so he's right back at where he first started.
I'm just glad I didn't have to pay money for seeing it.
I refused to watch this. Plenty of Thor comics I can read from the first run especially

Does it set up for more female Thor? I have the comic book where she appears but I’m going to sell it and use the money to buy some silver age stuff

Funnily enough the most woke character in marvel is handled very surprisingly well in the movie
