I'm not American and what these... people... understand by "pro choice" is absolutely nuts to me, never mind the fact that abortion is not a right. I remember that at least in the past, the debate was somewhat more polite, I guess, and with less foaming at the mouth, but these latest generations of lunatics are making any kind of discussion almost impossible, especially since they use that deceiving opening "we just want to start a conversation" while wanting nothing of the sort.
I would consider myself 'pro choice' but hearing/seeing these nut-jobs advocate for late-term or even mid-term abortions, outside of there being a risk of the mother dying, is absolutely nuts to me. As I see it, they should have at most 8 weeks to decide if they don't want the baby. If 8 weeks go by, fetal development begins and they're having the baby, no more choice. They shouldn't even reach that stage anyway, there's all kinds of options to avoid getting pregnant.
Even that should be off limits, since in the second trimester fetal development is well underway, and that would/should count as a murder, it surely does when a pregnant woman is killed.
a well regulated militia does not mean a bunch of faggot laws and a specifically defined militia.
well regulated in 1776 meant "in working order". the militia is every warm body able to hold a gun and show up when there's trouble.
I don't remember it being more polite in the past. Both sides were yelling past one another, calling the opposition insane or evil, and not winning any converts over to the truth. The difference was in the past you didn't have so many ignorant NPCs with no stake in the matter taking a side (most people didn't care about politics or "social justice") and institutions like academia and media may have been biased but weren't so transparently on one side. Unless you were talking to a known lefty like Donahue, it was correctly framed as a political debate with opposing viewpoints. Now it's "far-right White Christian misogynists vs. human rights". The extremists were always like that but the extremes have expanded. Even back then liberals were probably taking the typical "you must tolerate me until I'm in power, then I won't tolerate you" approach.
Quit enabling irresponsibility
