I don't follow. Is this a Gamergate thing?
I know about that one tweet tying it to this, but I thought that wasn't being serious.
For want of a stairs-muffin, one wymxn was late to vote...
"Stairs-muffin?" Google fails me.
It takes me to a quote-tweet of a banned account, though.
An old OG GG short 1-shot comic, about a morbidly obese feminist woman's daily life, in which everything that went wrong, she blamed on Gamergate, culminating in her needing a midnight snack of an entire turkey she left out (which went bad, curse that gamergate!) and then on her way back up to her room, she slipped on her "stairs muffin", a cupcake she kept there in case she got hungry midway through going up the stairs, tripped, and as she fell, let out a cry that gamergate moved her stair muffin to cause her to trip.
For a while after publishing, the comic became a mini-meme in the community, specifically, the stairs-muffin, as an example of the absurdism that was ever-present in which people blamed literally everything, in seriousness, on Gamergate. Even the holocaust was directly blamed on Gamergate at one point, to give reference to how this comic came to be (alongside references of GG owning multiple time machines).
It took some digging, but I found it.
Huh, never seen this one before, though I know of the artist. Thank you.
Yes, this was exposed early on in Gamergate.
Yes. The "gaming journalists start a backdoor chat group" thing is a reference to something called Game Journos Pro. It was a secret group, where gaming journalists would colaborate together, and it is basically the reason why so many gaming journalism websites released "gamers are dead" articles at the same time. It was a cordinated smear on gamers & it is what gave life to the GamerGate consumer backlash.
You can read more about it here.
