I don't know if I agree, although it perhaps depends on the definition of 'gay'.
It strikes me as pretty abnormal to be exclusively attracted to the same sex, but it seems common enough to be in the bounds of normal to be on some level, to some degree, bisexual.
I think there are relatively few 'homosexuals' who are never attracted to the opposite sex - There are doubtless millions of 'gay' men with wives and children.
There's large sub-sect of 'gays' that just men who are just not picky about who they stick their dick into so long as they relieve the urge to cum in something at the end of the day. Post-Kinsey we've called these people 'bisexual' or 'pansexual', but I can't help but feel that this is perhaps a relatively normal response to a libido that outstrips the availability of opposite sex partners.
Among 'gay' women, the term 'gold star lesbian' exists to describe a lesbian who has never had sex with a man, and it exists because the overwhelming majority of 'lesbians' are in fact women fleeing bad experiences with men and looking for an alternative.
The increased misogyny of gay men (part of why they love drag so much is because it is effectively a blackface minstrel show version of a woman) also points to a sub-sect of heterosexual men fleeing bad experiences with women, perhaps attracted to the female body, but (understandably) repulsed by the female mind.

In all seriousness, wanting to have sex with anything that is not the opposite sex of your species is indeed abnormal. Most people don't swing that way.
And yet we are all aware of the reputation of what goes on behind closed doors in all-male schools. Stereotypes about the navy (before they filled it with women, anyway), and the term 'prison gay'.
Otherwise heterosexual males, for lack of an available female, begin to engage homosexual activity out of sexual boredom.
We're all aware of the 'anti-gay preacher' gets caught fucking others dudes. stereotype, too. These are often men with families.
It looks to me like any man not getting laid as much as he'd like to can end up getting bored enough that any hole looks good enough.
Fair, but all of this is alleviated with...ahem...self relief. Abstinence policies in highschools, for instance, have always led to more unprotected and reckless sex amongst students. Most people who keep themselves sane, either through a lover or their right hand, stay hetero.
Indeed they do, but now we're at the the question of what the threshold for 'abnormal' is.
Ginger hair is vastly less common than homosexuality, except in Ireland and Scotland, where it soars to 10-15 percent. For comparison, Homosexuality is estimated at aroun 7-10%.
So when we call being gay 'abnormal', well.... how gay, how abnormal?.
A lot of 'gay' men have lived very normal lives with a wife and child and some degenerates they see on weekends. How much less normal are they than the men who have lived the same life, but with mistresses on the side?
I'd rather we didn't go back victorian levels of anti-sodomy and just went back to being able to openly ridicule them - you know? Just how we can openly ridicule people with ginger hair. You can just say they have no souls and assume they're illegitimate bastard children.
I don't want to outright persecute homsexual acts. I want to ridicule them and openly express my amusement and disgust. I don't want to tell a man he can't have breast implants and chop his dick off. I want to openly, freely laugh at him if he does.
Japan has managed to do this for like, 600+ years. Why can't we?
All that you’re describing are the impacts of the sex permissive society we live in and the lack of morals. That doesn’t get to determine what normality is because it results from a break in the norm. It would be like establishing an ethical treatment of children based on the fact that some people groups would kill one twin when they were born. Even if it’s ‘normal’ for that people group numerically, it shouldn’t be a normative thing to do.
It wasn't normative until the schools started teaching it and media was allowed to push it on kids.
We need it out of the schools, and out of media aimed at children. We need diversity quotas outlawed.
That will put an end to the normalization.
