I know next to nothing about the adaptation, but I feel like they probably toned down the "incest is sometimes just how it is" elements from Flowers in the Attic and played up the rape scene instead.
Because its been decades of feminists trying to reclaim it, because it has a "strong" female protag, most major characters are female and written by a female. But the majority of it is women doing awful horrible things to one another, including cucking, gold digging, and destroying lives for their lust.
It isn't her lack of experience, she has experience, it's her personal skill/direction that matters. She had no skill at anything except boring shit that appeals to basic bitch women with a teenage girl's mentality.

Her Wikipedia page lists 19 shows and two films. Whatever her flaws, inexperience doesn't seem to be one of them.
Not sure how much it matters, but most of the tv credits appear to just be single episodes.
