You could totally go to an anime convention with a free hugs sign, and very, very likely not get it. Because you need body-to-blood contact. And there's no rip'n'tearing in free hugs, usually. If you slice open your hand and handshake everyone like some Klingon blood-pact, sure, you could contract it if their hand has any lesions or open sores, but someone in a costume hugging someone in a costume is going to have minimal skin to skin contact, and that contact isn't likely going to be against open wounds.
Don't eat monkeys, don't eat rats, don't make open-wound contact or ingest the fluids of anyone who is sick.
The average person does not do those things. There's a chance someone spits on a dollar bill right before giving it to you and you get a papercut from it, while they're visibly sick but you don't distance yourself for some reason, for sure, the possibility exists, but you ARE an abstract statistic, of all your constituent risk factors.
Don't do activities that could result in blood or mucous of pox-ridden ill people contacting openings to your body, and you're 99.99999% the way to immunity.
Monkeypox doesn't spread easily.

I haven't heard anything about it transmitting blood-to-blood.
