Marriage or long term cohabitation is a disadvantageous situation for men. The odds of divorce or separation initiated by women are high and divorce and family courts are biased again men as evidenced by their clear results: 97% of alimony payers are men, in more than 80% of all cases women are granted child custody, assets are split 50/50 or worse, regardless of which partner contributed or earned most of those assets (largely the men).
There is no rational case for marriage that justifies the poor risk/benefit ratio for men.
It's not men specifically, it's the earner who is punished.
It's hard to tell because the man is the earner in almost all cases (because hypergamy). The children almost always go with the woman because she either a) doesn't work or b) can easily convince her employer to give her family leave, usually because the job is clerical and she can be replaced or covered for.
The courts see the earner as feminists see the earner, as an eternal ATM.
I think this is actually causing some backlash towards career oriented women. Those "deadbeat dad's" mentioned are the men who weren't out-earning the woman; she "wanted it all" and took the kids and the high paying job, so these men essentially tell her to fuck off and there she is.

Do not cohabitate. Do not marry.
