You didn't tell anybody why BNW was good, your argument was that it had hot chicks and looked cool.
It opens with no grand theme like st:tng (humanity on trial) or tos (what is reality), and subsequent episodes are full of soap opera drama and superficial dumb callbacks like a khan descendent. Ep 3 even has the Strong Powerful Woman who cures the disease just by being herself -- yay! The doctor has a pet daughter, which is kind of creepy.
I'll check it out after a couple seasons if it doesn't get much worse, but I'm not going to get baited into Stockholm-defending it when it does. For example, when it was revealed the normal looking woman secretly has super strength and super genes and no doubt is super smart did you say to yourself "oh that's ok because I really like the show?" I bet you did.
Now imagine if entire seasons have a single story arc at about the same quality of those episodes and you'd have the new stuff being called Trek these days. (not speaking to BNW because I haven't seen it yet, it's just hard to imagine how the same production studio could make it much better)
For every "The Inner Light" or "Best of Both Worlds", there is a "Spocks's Brain" or Code of Honor.
You know that's an extreme exaggeration.
Move Along Home isn't even that bad. If BNW is the level of Move Along Home then, meh I might check it out someday.
I don't know what you think you were arguing about, I just said you were exaggerating. (talking about bad episodes, not just mediocre) I didn't attack the show. My comments weren't about B/SNWhatever. I know that one is episodic even if I don't know the name.
WTF are you talking about? That's not even close to what I said.
May not be what you thought you said, but even now you haven't given a single other reason to watch than it's not that bad.
The classic series and TNG had lots of bad episodes, but also real philosophy and ideas. Spock's brain obviously a commentary on feminism for instance.
Old Trek diehards like to pretend every episode was a masterpiece
You keep strawmanning that BnW is good because older treks were bad sometimes. Heck of a way to sell people on your fan show.
Pike coming to terms with his mortality ...
La'an dealing with the trauma ...
U'na (Number One) dealing with the racism ...
A pointless war and the striving for peace.
So, finally, the things you like about it are soap opera. That's fine, I'm half way through Personal Taste (2010) and liking it so far.
