Something else to keep in mind, the word "pandemic" has never really been used until now. The word people used to describe widespread disease was "epidemic". So for all intents and purposes, they added a new word "pandemic" to the English language, defined as "the COVID-19 situation"
I get what you are going for, but millions of us played Pandemic 1/2 in the flash games days. So the word was certainly in use nearly two decades ago at minimum.
They certainly have changed the definition to suit their needs, but it was there and we all knew what it meant then.
