As far I'm concerned, only that which was written about Jesus would be considered applicable to Christianity.
As for the rest of the Bible, it's important to understand that the books as they are ordered were not when they were not written. There are also books that were not canonized for one reason or another. Not even getting into the fact that what was considered canon in the Bible has changed over time. You also have Song of Songs which is functionally porn. Why? Fuck if I know.

If Christianity is true, it cannot be based on lies, so the Old Testament has to be valid.
