No. Indy cars use methanol for fuel, F1 uses very exotic gasoline. F1 cars can run circles around Indy cars, and I say that as an old school fan who grew up on CART races, and watched Mario Andretti when he was still driving, and was competitive.
TOTAL BUDGET
Top F1 team: $470 million; Top IndyCar team: $15 million
The fact Indycar is even somewhat competitive is impressive. The one track F1 and Indycar both ran, the Indycars were only 14 seconds slower per lap. F1 has over $100 million in just their engines. I enjoy watching both sports, but F1 is a European sport so I can't really care to root for anyone not from America.
Holy fucking shit. How can they get away with calling it "Formula 1" anymore? I am too young to have watched the dangerous era(s) of it but I want to go back to the crazy designs with 6 wheels.
Yea, well, I don't really watch F1, but did have a passing interest in the nuts and bolts for a time. 30 years ago, when the Honda Turbo V6 McLaren was slaying all, F1 ran on exotic gas.

Andretti has given my favorite quote. He was being interviewed by Jay Leno and they had a picture of him on the stand with two beautiful models.
"Those women are grandmothers now"
I always remember that when someone posts a pic of hot chicks from the 80's.
